Fairy FlowersFairy Garden Flower List - Find out which plants and flowers attract Fairies and plant your very own Fairy Garden! Sarah's Fairy Garden 2006I planted my very own Fairy Garden spring/summer 2006 in my front yard. It turned out beautifully and I have to thank my dad for watering it and helping with planting. (I don't like touching earth worms.) May 27th, 2006First my dad and I clear all the grass out and place our stepping stones. The irises are about to bloom so we leave them there around the old wagon wheel. And the two shrubs can stay because they have pink blooms in the summer which I like. We find an old dead branch and plant it in the ground to hang up my bird house and hanging fairy ornament. Then to celebrate the beginning of a new garden we light the tili torches and I have fun running through the garden. I found most of my fairy ornaments at Wal-Mart. There's a few specially ordered ones or they were given to me as presents as well. You can see the first flowers are put in and the irises are looking good! My mom named my Gnome Roger. She thought it suited him. The garden keeps growing and I start buying more flowers and little extras. A great herb to plant is rosemary and lavender. It makes your garden smell delightful! June 10th, 2006You can see a post has been put in. I wonder what that could be for? There's me working in the garden in the afternoon sun. I also bought this "Welcome" sign on eBay. It's my favorite piece in my garden! My dad helped me nail it to a rock so it is displayed nicely when you walk up the stepping stone path you see it right away! Only thing it is starting to fade from the rain and just being outside. I will have to repaint it for next year. June 29th, 2006I purchased a lot of perennials and planted them. There are a few garden fairies appearing too. Can you see them all? And the shrubs are have pretty pink blooms on them now. You can also see my Official "Sarah's Fairy Garden" sign has been completed and nailed to the post. It's starting to look complete! A Fairy's view of the garden. Crouched on the ground I took a picture from what it would look like if I were only 3 inches tall. And now attached to the once lonely post is my hand made "Sarah's Fairy Garden" sign. My dad cut out the sign in the shape of a butterfly and then I painted flowers, vines, and the title on it. At this point in the summer I felt my garden was complete! August 4th, 2006I took out the Tiki Torches which no longer looked very nice and the garden looked at this point finished. All I had to do was watch it grow and care for it. While weeding a few times I did encounter a ruby throated hummingbird. It was attracted to the Foxglove I planted. Firewitch Pinks are my favorite flower in my garden. They're perennials so I'm looking forward to them coming up more beautiful every year. A leopard frog made a home in my garden for the month of August. And my Foxglove grew three feet high with the most gorgeous flowers I've ever seen! They were so delicate and the hummingbirds loved them! More to come... |
