Seek.com.au - Australia’s #1 Job Site.
I finally found a job site that delivers very recent and quality job postings. Especially in my field of work I was shocked to see how much there is available in both Melbourne and Sydney. I bookmarked this baby as I feel I’ll be using it quite a bit when searching for employment.
Only thing is most of the work is for full time positions. But they have an option for vacation/casual work so you might find something there. Check it out!

I checked out the webcams yesterday at CoastalWatch.com to see the crowded beaches with all the people celebrating. It was Sunday evening for me but I still joined in with the celebrations via webcam.
I love the internet!!!
My pen pal friend said she is sending me some little Australia Day treats. I sent her some Canada Day items and they didn’t arrive until a month later because I sent it by ground. It’s amazing how far away you realize you are when you send something through traditional mail. But on the internet it’s instant. It makes me feel like Australia isn’t so far away but mail a letter and I feel the exact opposite!
Hope everyone had a fantastic Australia Day. It’s just the beginning of Monday the 26th over here so I’m celebrating at my desk at work.
Next year I’ll celebrate for real.

HostelWorld.com
Many of you may already have visited this website in your trip planning process. Since I just discovered it I’m going to post it anyways. First of all this has pretty much the best hostels from all over the world (not just Australia) along with reviews and ratings. You can book through the site as well.
The extras on the site are what made me check out the site longer. I started listening to some of the podcasts, downloading pocket guides and even checking out the route planner. Of course you need to create a free account so you can access some of the content but it seems like a good site for travel planning. I think I may return to it when I need a hostel on short notice.

If you enjoy listening to podcasts and hearing those great Aussie accents than you need to check out this website!
Queensland Holidays - podcasts
I have listened to a couple podcasts already about the Daintree rainsforest and the Gold Coast. They give you a lot of facts and ideas for things to do at each location! It’s great! And listening to the locals talk isn’t too bad either. Anytime I hear those accents I imagine I’m already there!

“Moon Living Abroad in Australia” is packed with essential information and must-have details on setting up daily life including obtaining visas, arranging finances, gaining employment, choosing schools, and finding health care.
I got this book as a Christmas gift. It has been very helpful choosing the best place to live on our budget and understanding what daily life will be like. In the back there is a great section with links to helpful websites for finding work and accommodation. It’s a nice little reference book that I am constantly flipping through when I have questions about preparing for my trip.

After browsing around Gumtree.com.au I know I’ll be using this site when I head to Melbourne. The listings for accommodations and jobs are very valuable. In a twenty minute span while I was online, over 10 new posts for shared accommodations were posted!
If you’re looking for items to buy such as furniture or even a car they have a great category for that too. There are so many listings on the site daily that finding what you need shouldn’t be very difficult. You can also choose different cities if you’re not going to Melbourne. Make sure you bookmark this one!

New Years Eve - Website
I’m so happy there’s a website just for planning your New Years Eve celebrations. We want to be in Sydney for that night. It’s the best place to be in my oppinion for some incredible fireworks and an amazing atmosphere of over a million people gathered together!
What I’ve heard from travel forums is that you need to book your accomodation over half a year in advance! There’s a lot of tourists and people who have the same plan so it’s best to book something really early so you don’t miss out! Once we find a hotel we may book in July to make sure that’s where we’ll be for sure on New Years Eve!
Check out that website for other great places to celebrate New Years Eve. Cities across Australia hold their own celebrations every year!
I can’t wait to see the Harbour Bridge explode with fireworks and experience one of the biggest celebrations in the world and then hit the beach

Air New Zealand - Website
So we’re thinking of taking a little side trip to New Zealand while in Australia. If you’ve come all that way why would you not go a little further a explore another country?! So I did a little research and I found an airline that flies from any major city to New Zealand. It’s probably the most known airline for New Zealand anyways. The fares are really good and I think for sure we’ll be able to afford it!
I don’t know too much about New Zealand at the moment. I’ve watched some travel shows about Milfred Sound and how there are no snakes. Don’t really know what I would check out but luckily I have a cousin who recently moved there so he might be able to recommend some places to visit. Until then I know I can get a good deal on traveling there so that’s a start.

Ever since I stumbled across this show on YouTube 3 months ago I have been hooked ever since! I can’t go a day without missing an episode. This is a great show to get used to hearing the Aussie accents and getting familiar with sayings that Australians say. Life in Summer Bay isn’t too different compared to where I am now except for the ocean right outside the door!
Check out the latest episode on YouTube. Type “Home and Away 4752″ and you’ll get today’s episode! There are some nice people out there that upload the show everyday for us North Americans who can’t watch the episodes on the official website. We’re not in their region so it’s not available. I can’t wait to actually watch an episode on a real TV while in Austrlia!
My favorite characters are Roman, Angelo, Nicole, Aden and Jeff. They have been quite popular the last few weeks.
Official Home and Away Website
Check it out and hopefully you don’t get addicted like me!
